I’ve had beautiful weather, a nice break from the wet spring in the mid-west USA. My nephew and niece found Niagara-on-the-Lake last year after bringing their son to a hockey camp. I’m glad they found Periwinkle Cottage, wonderful retreat from hectic work-a-day pace. The cottage is like visiting friends, only better, because here we are in charge of the agenda and settings. The cottage grows on one. We like seeing the gardens along Circle Drive and are intrigued by the area, Chatauqua, always admiring the reason for it. I’m a retired English teacher and American history major. So this area reminds me of Progressive and Transcendentalism of America. I love to garden so I revel in the gorgeous flora. The flower in the dining room corner is amazing! Flowers love this corner of Canada. I grow most of the specimens here but here they are so vibrant and huge. We love the produce grown here – the veggies, the meat, the fruit and, of course, the wines! My family has enjoyed cooking fantastic meals on the grill, using the herbs outside the dining room window. Spending time with my nephew and infant has been a special treat. This was our first time in this lovely cottage, but not the first time in Canada, however it was the most enjoyable. Genie helped us with everything no matter when we called her.
